Freedom through Exercise

Longevity Fitness employs a holistic approach to helping clients reach greater freedom and independence through fitness. We meet clients where they are and work as a partner, adapting and changing with them as their needs change. Through exercise, we work towards increased mobility and confidence, which helps our clients maintain autonomy and self-reliance.

Meet Heather

Longevity Fitness owner Heather Short has always loved helping. As a child, Heather earned the nickname “Heather Helper” by giving family members back massages, volunteering for extra chores, and always stepping up to assist others. When she was a student at Marlborough High School (’93), she sustained a knee injury while playing soccer for the Panthers and was sent to physical therapy for rehabilitation. While Heather completed her own treatment, she grew more and more fascinated by the treatment of those around her. Her passion for the science of exercise, and helpful, caring nature came together to reveal her life’s work – physical therapy. Heather attended University of Massachusetts – Lowell and has a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology as well as a Master of Science in Physical Therapy. She has been actively practicing physical therapy for over 20 years. Her passion for the work has evolved into a passion for preventative and long-term rehabilitation through the continued pursuit of strength, balance, endurance and flexibility training. Studies show that exercise improves overall health and well-being through the reduction of disease, improved emotional stability, reduction of frailty, and enhancement of daily living. Witnessing these benefits for her therapy clients convinced Heather to become a certified personal trainer and to focus on the preventative benefits of fitness to improve quality of life and longevity.
